Doordash is one of the most popular food delivery products today. According to my experience, I found there were way too many clickthroughs while selecting food to order, which may affect the efficiency and user experience. As a result, I would like to see how I can help with this issue.
After careful considerations, I decided to tackle with the interaction design of the app since I have no idea about the product level requirements and constraints. Also, there’s no data to back up my design decisions.
Understanding the problem
In order to find the root cause of this problem, I did a task analysis on current browsing and ordering design.
According to the task analysis, I found out that after the user selects a menu, the app would lead him/her to another page, which means the app needs the user to go through one more step before uncovering all the dishes available.
While doing the task analysis, I also found several issues on the restaurant displaying page that might add cognitive loads to users when browsing.
